Books by Frederick R. Boyle, C.G. Early Families of Sanford-Springvale, Maine (1989) provides genealogies of the early families of Sanford and the village of Springvale from its first years of settlement (17--) to those who may have settled by 1850. Families are continued through members born ca 1900. Hard-bound, the book is indexed and contains important maps.
Later Families of Sanford-Springvale, Maine (1995) provides additional genealogies of the families who came to Sanford and Springvale towards the end of the 19th century with a cutoff of 1910. Many of these families were French-Canadian, English or residents of Maine who settled in town to work or supervise the textile and shoe factories which were the major economic
attraction. Hard-bound, the book is fully indexed and contains a number of family photographs. Early Families of Shapleigh and Acton, Maine (2002] provides genealogies of about 250 separate families of these rural York Co. towns. The time frame carries a family from its arrival in Shapleigh or Acton, many prior to 1790, to the births of children born in those towns about 1900. The book is hard-bound, 895 pages in length, fully footnoted, with an all-name index. About the author Frederick R. Boyle, a native of Boston, Mass. grew up in nearby Medford.
